Christmas with The Salvation Army

CwTSA PosterProject Description: Christmas with The Salvation Army is an annual Christmas concert at Roy Thomson Hall, in the heart of Toronto, which celebrates and kicks-off the Christmas season for many people. Musicians and other performers take part in a massive concert.

Requirements: The Salvation Army PR Department requested a clean and contemporary look for the concert, moving away from the nostalgic and traditional styles associated with the Holidays.  The marketing material needed to be consistent across various media formats and sizes.

Components: Marketing the concert to the public and Salvation Army audiences began in the late Summer and consisted of the following collateral:

  • 12″ x 18″ colour posters for wall and window displays
  • 4″ x 6″ postcards for mailing and handouts
  • full-page ads in local community papers and magazines
  • church bulletin covers for Sunday service promotions
  • 5.5″ x 8.5″ glossy handbills for handouts and stuffing’s
  • PowerPoint slides for projection media and web advertising

The concert program was a specially designed 10-page booklet, featuring a pull-out back cover panel to reveal an invitation to other Christmas concert events and fund-raisers during the holidays.

During the concert, a special video presentation entitled “The Hope of Christmas” was shown.  This 4 minute video was compiled and edited using still-life photography set to a jazz piano arrangement of “What Child is This” by Toronto jazz musician, Elizabeth Shepherd.
