Hannaford Festival of Brass T-shirt

fob-shirt-1Project Description: The annual Festival of Brass, hosted by the Hannaford Street Silver Band, is a weekend-long music festival attracting brass bands and music enthusist to Toronto, Canada. To give the occassion some long-term memorabilia, concert-style t-shirts were sold throughout the event.

Requirements: Being the first attempt at promoting the event through t-shirt sales, a limited number of shirts were produced.  The design had to be dramatic, musically appropriate, and include some references Toronto.  Production costs had to be kept low.

fob-close-frontComponents: Inspiration for this design came from an earlier T-shirt design for Humber Summit Middle School.  This illustration went further into a surrealist style, with more attention to motion and angles.

The front illustration was created from several photographs of instruments found in brass bands, then isolated an d converted into vector shapes for manilulation and colouring.  The shirt printing was to be two spot colours on the front so the shirt colour was used to increase detail and the design pallet.
