Mary Kenedi Website Conversion
Project Description: Concert pianist and educator Mary Kenedi needed a straight-forward, easy to use content management solution for her website, www.marykenedi.com. Quiet City Design converted the existing site into a WordPress framework for simple administration.
Requirements: The existing website reflected Mary’s style and elegance with a striking silhouette of a grand piano, and a mixture of classical and modern design. The site was largely HTML based, and required assistance to maintain content. Converting the HTML site into a WordPress theme introduced a level of accessibility and functionality never before realized.
Components: WordPress has many bells and whistles even “out of the box” in its default layout. The page structure and layout of Mary’s original website required editing out much of the WordPress code. What was left was a tight and clean WordPress template to manage the pages.
The front page of the site highlights news and announcements by way of the WordPress posts functionality. News articles are archived in a single category and displayed as a headline, linking to the full text of the entry.
The WordPress administration area is web-based, requiring no software to be installed. Content can be updated from any computer with an internet connection. This offers Mary total control over the presentation of each page, as well as the navigation menu, pagination of articles, and contact forms.
Partnered with the main site is a fully functional and self contained e-commerce website for the purchasing of Mary’s CD discography. Mary has full control over the catalogue and products, pricing, shipping methods offered and payment details. The website is fully automated to handle orders, register and log customers, send email confirmations and newsletters, and calculate shopping cart totals with tax and shipping fees.
